RACE INFO

Race distances: 500 yard pool swim, approx 7.5 mile non-technical MTB, approx 2.5 mile trail run

The race is in Colorado Springs, at the Cheyenne Mountain High School(swim) and in Bear Creek Park between 8th and 21st st (Bike and Run)--see map below

The race will be limited to 192 athletes, so register early!

Race cost:

There are no refunds for this event! You may transfer your entry to another athlete (that YOU find) if you notify me by April 1st. No exceptions.

IMPROVEMENTS FROM 2005:

2 swimmers per lane!

Everyone gets a t-shirt if they register before April 1st (Update 4/18/06, it looks like everyone will get a t-shirt even those registering after April 1st)

SCHEDULE:

Sunday April 23rd, 6:30-7:45am packet pick-up. Cheyenne Mt High School Pool. You must bring a photo ID or you will not be allowed to race. USAT members also must bring their USAT membership card or you will need to purchase a 1-day USAT license. DO NOT drop off your bike/run gear at Bear Creek Park before the swim!!

Sunday April 23rd, 7:30am. First swim wave starts

Sunday April 23rd, aprox 45 mins after last swim wave finishes. Bike/run starts TT format based on swim time (you will start when your swim time comes up on the race clock). This is in Bear Creek Park.

PRIZES(subject to change):

The top overall male and female and the winner of each 5 year age group will receive custom wood awards by artist Kent Bailey.

Athletes will receive a t-shirt

COURSE:

Swim 500 yards at Cheyenne Mountain High School pool. Location is 1200 Cresta Rd. Colorado Springs 80906.

The will be held in waves with 2 athletes per lane in an 8 lane 25 yard pool. After the swim you will report to Bear Creek Park and set up your running gear in the transition area. At the specified time you MUST be at the bike start line ready to ride. You will line up by your completed swim time and you will be sent off at the precise time of your swim. After you complete 3 laps of the bike you enter the transition area, leave your bike and exit to complete 2 run laps. In this format the first athlete across the line is the overall winner.

(Yes I know Earth Day is celebrated April 22nd, but the pool is busy that day!)

DIRECTIONS TO SWIM VENUE: 

From I-25S, take exit 141, Hwy 24 West.  Turn left at the end of the ramp and take Hwy 24 1.5 miles West until 21st St, turn left.  Take 21st (turns into Cresta) 2.7miles to the Cheyenne Mt High School on the right.  The pool is on the South side of the building near the tennis courts.

DIRECTIONS TO BIKE/RUN VENUE: 

From Cheyenne Mt High School, turn left on 21st St. (same as Cresta).  Take 21st St 1.6miles to Rio Grande, turn right.  Take your first right into Bear Creek East.  Park wherever you can.  Start area is near the fenced in garden area.
